CUT: Looking at street trends and underground fashion coupled with iconic style references of Louise Brooks, the famous 1930's model, showgirl and silent film actress and uber stylish Russian model Ranya Mordanova. Reflective of their unique attitude and approach to fashion - creating a highly individualistic identity and icon-like status.
COLOUR: Taking influence from the process used to fuse properties of amber that in their presence create an anbaric glow. Her hard edgy and eccentric approach is illuminated to give an 'oh so surreal' Dali-esq feel. Her hair is her indulgence, with a barely there texture encompassing a palette of 'vintage tones' - such as Tea stained roots, Amber Aura, Yellow Okra and Lady Grey. Using a colour drapery technique throughout the hair to enliven the texture - colour is draped and defined.
CUT: Taking inspiration from the 90's Grunge Seattle sound and the attitude of bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Courtney Love's band Hole. Bringing the look into 2010 with direct fashion reference taken from Cavalli, Louise Golding, Custom National and Proenza Scholers's recent collections. Glamorous grunge and elaborate layering creates a rebellious sense of naturalness with a gritty texture for an anti-do attitude.
COLOUR: Taking inspiration from Dutch artist Piet Mondrian, his simplistic and abstract painting style - using a restricted but disciplined colour palette within each painting. This plus the A/W 10 collections from fashion houses Etro and Balenciaga and designer Louise Golding all provide inspiration for the choice of colour palette.
CUT: Taking inspiration from a variety of fashion influences, from the work of iconic fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier and Gucci's A/W 10 campaign. Embracing the late 80's / early 90's grunge attitude and creating a look that is reflective of high fashion, yet totally wearable.
COLOUR: Mused by collections from Karl Largerfeld and Chanel and the use of synthetic pelt within the collections. Imitating the textures and colour that fur creates, embracing the sense of moveable colour as the light reflects, offering new colour alternatives. Tactile and malleable colour gives hair a must-touch feeling with an animalistic fur quality.
CUT: Taking inspiration from high-fashion campaigns, most notably Chanel in French Vogue and Mulberry, hair is given a wig-like edge, exaggerated width and injects an editorial nod to a graphic classic shape. Thatched, vigorous texture that is big on attitude and a chewed off fringe all echo that quintessential DIY edge.
COLOUR: Mused by the grunge generation of female rock bands of the early 90's, but creating a more grown-up high fashion feel, think Courtney Love. Grunge-gone-glam - fused with catwalk inspired palettes from designer Giles Deacon. An overall darker perimeter adds strength, whilst a linear pivot technique gives depth in colours of Resin Brown, Pewter Grey and Deep Violet.
CUT: Taking direct inspiration from designer David Koma's A/W 10 collection - reflecting the zigzag pattern work in section patterns within the hair. Using the fringe area as a focal point and embracing the futuristic elements of runway collections from Balenciaga, inspired by recyclable packaging, whilst creating disconnected shapes that have an ambition of integrating couture and street wear for ultimately wearable fashion. This plus influences from Emporio Armani's runway, with models sporting short undercut looks mixed with street fashion, creates a rebellious, anti-fashion approach.
COLOUR: Taking inspiration from printed fabrics seen on the A/W 10 runways combined with fluid fabrics such as silk and the use of rich colour palettes. In particular Prada's 1950's inspired collection of floral prints was a key focus in both the colour palette and devised technique.
CUT: Inspired by Lydia Sylvette, muse of Pablo Picasso who was inspired by her sensuality, this look embraces fun and gives a youthful accent to long wearable hair. Simple yet distinctive, hair is given a disordered feel and dishevelled finish, whilst still eluding a sense of elegance.
COLOUR: Using hair as an extreme fashion accessory and embracing key trends from the runway of Giles Deacon S/S 10 Paris show, adding a much needed playful edge into hair colour. A touch of futurism is given through a simple technique based on two perfectly placed tones, pastel shades are used to create a deliciously-cheerful, candy-floss effect.
CUT: The inspiration for the cut is a gender-less approach to hair, the ability for style to be interchangeable girls wearing boys - boys wearing girls. Using David Bowie as a style icon with direct reference to the 'LOW' album cover - a profile image of Bowie, exposing a soft undercut - sophisticated and genderless. This plus the 1980's cult film 'HUNGAR' - starring Catherine Deneuve and Bowie, taking both style references and intertwining them to create something new, proving it's not what you wear but how you wear it.
COLOUR: Taking inspiration from designer Hermoine De Paula's A/W 10 show, with the theme of ice sculptures created using multiple textures and tones to reflect the fluidity of the collection. This combined with the cover of electronic duo Goldfrapp's album 'Head First' - colour appears in dazed formulations of cloudy skies, including shades of Dusty Rose and Orange Blossom.
CUT: Looking at fusions of street style and high-fashion, from the fur detail of the Anna Sui A/W 10 collection, to underground club kids. Texture plays heavily in creating a futuristic feel, plus the intricacies of a magazine story shot by photographer Craig MacDean focusing on soft layers of fabric and crystallised textures to create a multi-dimensional look.
COLOUR: Taking inspiration from the futuristic cartoon like world of illustrator Enki Bilal, colour is given an energetic and dynamic edge to encourage texture. Using a blend of cool, neutral reduced tones of Granite and Warm Stone to create a versatile, reversible and subtle finish.
